This script follows “Living Things” and provides an alternate storyline for Season 8, Episode 4 of Game of Thrones. Nobody teleports in this episode, but having written it I understand the temptation. No coffee or coffee cups, either. Alternate title for this episode was “The Night Comes Down,” but that felt a little on the nose. And anachronistic. And emotionally complicated. Nightfall works much better.

Without spoiling anything, here are some things you can look forward to:

  • The Long Night begins.
  • At least one major character dies.
  • Something fucked up happens on the Iron Throne.
  • Bran grows a personality.
  • The dead are winning.

If you’re a fan of the Euron Greyjoy in the books, I hope you enjoy this episode. Euron isn’t quite so OTT in this script as he is in the books, and I can’t claim he’s as eloquent either. But he has no interest in Cersei except as a tool to establish his own godhood.

Keep in mind that I have no time or budgetary constraints in writing this. I could write a script where a hundred direwolves face off against a hundred dragons, and all it costs me is the time it takes to write it. There are also some errors and inconsistencies that I would be more scrupulous with if I was actually getting paid. I hope it’s not unbearably sloppy; I’m sure you’ll tell me if it is.

Reader beware: there’s some disturbing material here, including violence, death, and sexual violence (not rape, but not any better).
